Victorian Chic for Halloween
I wanted to share a high-end look for you guys as a sort of inspiration in anticipation for Halloween. I detest cheap costumes and things without lasting power. Ichigo Black is a clothing line heavy with Japanese fashion inspiration. While not technically a costume, it certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, every day wear!
Many people associate Japanese with “Lolita” but that would be severely mistaken. Japan is one of the most fashion-forward countries in the world, spearheading the popularity of multiple subcultures into Western media and pop art. This includes looks ranging from Gyaruo - a Jersey Shore-ish spray tan and bleach blond hair Abercrombie look, to Street Kei - a skate steez and American casual style but without as much thrifted clothes.
It is difficult to put Ichigo Black into one of these categories as the entire premise of the brand hinges on nonconformity and creativity. To that end, I would describe this beautiful collection as Victorian Chic - exuding grace, elegance, with a dark Alice in Wonderland sort of eccentricity.
Bold dramatic statements of shapes and patterns with a subtle, sophisticated color palette, balance and juxtapose each other so that each piece is a statement demanding attention. Paired up or paired down, these pieces are completely versatile on their own and can be used as base pieces for a Steampunk look, a Victorian monarch, a Gothic Priestess, or even a badass Vampire. Or just rock them on your own and turn heads all across town!
